THE ADVICE OF LUQMAN TO HIS SON
AN ADMONITION TO MANKIND
.
And Allaah (ﷻ) says in the next Ayah enjoining man to be kind to his parents;
.
.
And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.
.
(Luqman 31:14)
.
It is a duty upon man to be kind to his parents in all circumstances. A mother suffers pains and discomfort to bring her child to life, after that, she sacrifices her time to the upbringing and training of the child and the father also stands by the mother through all the stress and provides the needs of both the mother and child; these are enough reasons to be respectful and dutiful towards the parents. And this commands respect from every child to his mother.
.
If you do not fulfil the rights of Allaah (ﷻ) by being thankful to Him (ﷻ) and being dutiful to your parents, this is a great warning!
.
.
Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination
.
This is like the ayah
.
.
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], “uff,” and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
.
(Al-Isra’ 17:23)
.
May Allaah (ﷻ) keep us firmly upon the truth.
.
